Insights Of An Artist's Journey
Hi Reader ๐๐ป
Welcome to another issue of Insights Of An Artist's Journey!
Every Tuesday, I send you resources and bits of insights that I find useful to help you speed up your music production journey ๐
Here are today's topics:
๐ค Is Instagram still worth it for music artists?
๐จ 70% OFF on online music courses
๐ง Music genre don't matter as much as you think
๐ผ Custom cover arts for self release
โ Free music distribution in July
Let's jump in!
๐ถ Is Instagram still worth it for music artists?
In the video, she talks about her vision on both Instagram and YouTube.
She said:
I'm really liking YouTube because I get to be myself and it's more sustainable.
but also:
I just want to have a real community around me instead of trying to get more random people.
It's been years that I feel the same about Instagram and YouTube, but not opening up about it.
This stops now!
The more I progress in my journey online, the more I start to relate to this, a lot.
To be honest with you, I've been wondering since months if I should even continue to post on Instagram.
I find Instagram:
Hard to keep up. There is always new "trends" that if you don't follow, you don't grow.
Exhausting, as it's a volume game.
Superficial, as it's harder to genuinely connect with people and show you everything I want.
Limiting. It's short-form, so I can't fully explain or talk about a topic.
Those are all problems I do not have with YouTube - and I enjoy making YouTube videos!
Part of me wants to only use Instagram to:
๐ฌ have conversations with you
๐ฑ post stories of my day to day to give you an authentic glimpse into the life of a music creator
โ
P.S:Instagram is GREAT for reach if you learn to play the game. So if you're just starting out, it's still an amazing place to be on that I'd heavily recommend!
Thinkspace is a music educational platform I recently found.
They have courses for both music composing and music production, taught by industry professionals such as Guy Michelmore (composer for Disnet, Marvel) and Tim Johnson (mix engineer at BBC, Netflix and Prime Video).
They are currently running a "Super Skills Sale", giving up to 70% off on selected courses!
P.S:This is not affiliated or sponsored, just a resource I found super useful and didn't want you to miss if you were looking for online courses! ๐
๐ง Music genre don't matter as much as you think...
"PLV, how do I find the music genre I want to produce?"
"PLV, should I focus on one music genre or not?"
โ I hear these questions on a weekly basis.
So I made a video to share my own personal thoughts about the topic.
It's a very short video, less than 5 minutes, in a new format ๐
Last week, I got a DM from someone asking me what I was using to make my own cover arts when I don't release with a label.
โ It's called PosterMyWall.
It has over 43,000+ cover album templates that you can customize to your liking.
After that, it costs less than $5 for the commercial license and you're good to go!
It's a good way to make your own cover arts, easily, without having to pay for softwares like Photoshop or Canva, which all comes with a monthly subscription.
โ
P.S:Once again, this is NOT affiliated or sponsored.
Collabhouse is celebrating 100k users by offering free music distribution for the month of July! ๐ฅณ
You don't have to release your song in July, you just have to upload it on their platform in July.
Plus, you will get to keep 100% of your royalties!
Here are some more information below if you are interested ๐๐ป
I personally released my song 'Gotta Be' last year with them and I've been very satisfied.
We did have an issue at some point, where the song disappeared from Spotify but their customer support replied to me in less than 10 minutes, saying they were already on it, and it got fixed in less than 2 days! ๐ค
So I had a great experience with them!
โ
๐ That's it for today! If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to reply to this email and I will do my best to help you out!
