πŸŽ₯ Why you should document your music journey

I watched this YouTube video over the weekend. It explains why we should document our lives more.

As I was watching it, it reminded me why I started my own YouTube Channel in the first place: to document my music journey.

And as you know, this one little decision changed my life.

I strongly believe everyone should document their music journey, but maybe not for the reasons you may think.

Here are 5 reasons why:

β†’ The first reason is that you’ll be more aware of the progress you make.

Sometimes, it is easy to think that we are not making much progress. Especially if you are a perfectionist.

But if you documented your journey, you could go back to the first videos you took, the first songs you made and realize how far you've come.

β†’ Secondly, you’ll make faster progress because you’ll have accountability.

Have you ever told yourself you'd start practicing piano every day but gave up 3 days in?

Yup, me too!

Who cares, no one knew about it right?!

But what if you publicly share your journey, your goals and ambitions?

I guarantee you that the pressure of not wanting to fail publicly will give you the accountability you've been missing until now.

β†’ Thirdly, you'll enjoy the journey more.

This one is quite simple. It's a feedback loop.

The more you see the progress you make, the more proud you will feel, and the more you will enjoy the actual journey.

β†’ The fourth reason is that you will get to connect with like minded people.

As you share your journey online, it will attract your tribe.

People that share the same passion, the same goals.

As you start talking with them, you will create relationships and they will help you along the journey.

You can:

  • Talk about your struggles and find solution together
  • Support each other
  • Grow your network

β†’ Finally, the fifth reason is that it builds authenticity and trust with your audience.

By posting online, you will start to attract an audience.

The more the audience can see your evolution, the more it will build trust and authenticity, which, might come in handy in the future if you decide to monetize your music skills.

As you can see, sharing your journey has a lot of benefits.

So, what do you say? Ready to share your music journey online? πŸ˜‰

🌎 Become your own booking agent

If you are a music artist or DJ looking to find your next gig, this is the tool you need!

It’s called BookingAgent.io and it allows you to find the contact information of any talent buyer in the world.

If you search for a similar artist to you, let’s say Blanks, it’s going to show you all the venues that booked Blanks (see below).

By clicking on each venues, you can find all their details including:

  • the name
  • the address
  • the website
  • the email addresses
  • the event date
  • the upcoming concerts
  • the capacity
  • and much more

But where it gets interesting is that if you click on the blue button β€œFind contact for this venue”, it will show you the name, email address and/or social media info of the talent buyer for that specific venue.

See screenshot below.

If you do this with many different artists similar to you, you can easily make a list of talent buyers to send your press kit to, and hopefully land your next gig πŸ˜ƒ

Let me know if you get your next gig with this tool!

πŸ“± "Can you guess the song?"

I just discovered this account by Justin recently and wanted to share it with you as... it's a fun concept!!!

Basically, it's a game on Bandle, where you have a few tries to find out which music is being played.

First time, you only get to hear the drums. Then, it adds the bass, the synths, the vocals etc.

He made it a video series on his account where he challenges you to guess the song before him. Try it, it's fun πŸ˜‰

βš–οΈ How I balance my time between music & content creation

As the music industry keeps changing, we all know that we should be on social media promoting on our songs.

But I see a lot of people struggling to find the time to make both music and content.

Since I've been doing this for the last 3.5 years, I got pretty good at it and found a good trick!

I talk about it in my latest YouTube video (in less than 3 minutes!)

🎢 Life - Balynt, Luke Bergs

Luke Bergs is a tropical house music producer.

But he is also the very first tutorial I ever watched to make my very first song "Better Now". (Don't search for it, it was bad!)

He recently released a new song that I cannot stop listening to on repeat 😍
